It's been six years, but on Friday, November 4th, the City of Ottawa installed six Village street signs on the corners of Bank/Nepean, Bank/Somerset and Bank/James. It's been a lot of hard work for the Committee, our partners, sponsors, volunteers and supporters, but it's been worth every minute as Canada, one of the most progressive countries in the world, joins other nations whose national capital boast a GLBT-friendly Village.
See photos taken of the painting and unveiling of the 40th anniversary commemorative mural of the We Demand protest, Canada's first demonstration for civil rights for the GLBT community. We were honoured to have Charlie Hill, a key speaker at the 1971 rally, attend the 2011 unveiling.
